How to deal with an experience of sexual violence and/or intimate partner violence is extremely personal and there is no right or wrong way to deal with what happened. Every person who experiences sexual violence and/or intimate partner violence deals with their experience in different ways. There are resources here in NL that can support you in this process.

If you or a loved one has experienced sexual violence and you’re looking for support, the ESVNL operates a 24/7 Support and Information line at 1-800-726-2743 .

The Journey Project

We can provide general legal information, resources and supports available in the community, and referrals to lawyers for free legal advice through The Journey Project Legal Support Service (JPLSS).

We can also provide individualized support and system navigation as you move through (or choose not to move through) any legal process.

The person that you reach will be a trained volunteer. If you decide you want to reach out to the Journey Project, the volunteer can help connect you.

The Journey Project

The Journey Project’s team of Legal Support Navigators is available to provide support and information no matter where you live in the province. They are able to offer support and information on all forms of sexual violence, including sexual harassment.

You are also able to contact the Journey Project for information and support on behalf of a family member, friend, or colleague who is experiencing sexual violence.

The lawyers who are part of the Journey Project Legal Support Service (JPLSS) are also able to provide legal advice no matter where you live in the province.

PLIAN’s Labrador Office is located in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and provides legal information and support to people in all parts of Labrador.

PLIAN’s Access to Justice Coordinator for Labrador is available to meet by phone, email, or in person. They can provide general information, discuss legal options, offer other community resources and supports, and arrange referrals through PLIAN’s Lawyer Referral Service.

End Sexual Violence NL (ESVNL)

End Sexual Violence NL has an office located in Happy Valley-Goose Bay that can provide services and support to people in all parts of Labrador who have experienced sexual violence.

ESVNL’s Sexual Violence Prevention Coordinator for Labrador is available to meet by phone, email, or in person. They can provide trauma-informed support for persons who have experienced sexual violence. They also work closely with other organizations and resources throughout Labrador to respond to all forms of sexual violence and to work towards the prevention of sexual violence.
